June 2022 – Fonts, italics, and tools for students with specific learning differences

In June, Agnieszka Dzięcioł-Pędich reviewed some of the best practices for designing printed materials for SpLDs students and showed, among others, how to modify the appearance of YouTube subtitles, how to download YT subtitles, how to use voice-recognition software, how to use software for creating mind-maps and other tools for classroom-management. The session can be watched in your Member Area (My Resources / SIG Resources) on the IATEFL website.

January 2022 – Tools for preparing materials for students with special educational needs

The aim of our January drop-in session was to discuss the principles of materials development for students with special educational needs.

In the first part of the drop-in session, Agnieszka Dziecioł-Pędich talked about page layout, fonts, appropriate line spacing, the colour of the paper, the use of text windows and colourful overlays, etc.

In the second part of the drop-in session she discussed free tools teachers can use to modify the appearance of materials for students with special educational needs, including some functionalities of word processors , online OCR tools, andscreen-reading software.

September 2021 – Getting to know your students

April 2021 – LGBTQ identity and representation

On 21 Wednesday 2021, 18:00 CET (17:00 UK time) we organized our third drop-in session and Giovanni Licata talked about LGBTQ identity and representation in language teaching.
