Committee members typically volunteer for 3 – 6 years, so there are frequent changes to our committee.
The committee consists of a Co-ordinator, a Secretary, an Events Co-ordinator and the Communications team:
Social Media coordinator, Newsletter editor, Web manager
There is also the possibility of electing ‘committee members without portfolio’, to support the communications team. Of course, some of the roles could be carried out by two joint post-holders, too.
We are currently looking for a web manager. If you would like to be part of this team, please get in touch by email at [email protected] and tell us where your interests lie – all expressions of interest are very welcome.
Job descriptions for all the positions can be found at the IATEFL website by clicking on these links.
If you are attending the IATEFL conference in Manchester in April 2020, this will be a great opportunity to have a chat with existing committee members to find out more about what is involved in being on the committee. We are running a joint PCE with the TEASIG on April 17th, looking at Inclusive Practices in Language Assessment, and we will be hosting an Open Forum on Monday 20th April. Look for our mini banner during the breaks, as well, and come to say hello.
Whenever a post becomes available, we will put out a call to let members know what the role is. In order to stand for a post, you need to:
a) be a current member of IATEFL IPSENSIG,
b) be proposed and seconded by other members of the SIG,
c) sign the nomination form and provide your IATEFL membership number
d) provide a personal statement of between 100 to 150 words explaining your reasons for standing, what you hope to achieve and contribute in the position you are applying for, and why you think you should be chosen. Please include information in the statement of all other professional affiliations they hold and possible conflicts of interest (eg. if you are already working for another SIG, IATEFL Committee or an institution).
